"Sadaqallaahul `Aleeyul `Adheem" after Qur'aanic Recitation is Bid`ah

I was always wondering why the discrepancy on how to end your Qur’aanic recitation between Sunnees and Shee`ah when we say, "al-`aleeyul 'adheem" and they "adheem". Then I realized that in the Sunnee books there is NO mention to say “sadaqallaahul `adheem” (صدق الله العظيم) that got me wondering if it is even really in our books.

So I searched throughout our book to find any hadeeth that says end your recitation with “sadaqallaahul `aleeyul `adheem” (صدق الله العلي العظيم)

I only came across 1 hadeeth that alludes to the fact that we end our Qur'aanic recitation with

I am going to give an excerpt of this hadeeth, due to the fact that it is REALLY lengthy. Over 11 pages long!
“How do I begin the Qur’aan (recitation) and how do I finish it? He said: O ibn Salaam, he begins it with “bismillaahir raHmaanir raHeem” and he finishes it with “sadaqallaahul `aleeyul `adheem”

Here is the chain that was given.

There are many issues with this chain. The primary narrator (`Abd Allaah bin Salaam) is majhool according to Al-Khoei (see: Al-Khoei, Mu`jam Rijaal Al-Hadeeth, vol. 10, pg. 197, person # 6889).

This narration seems to be very shaadh (odd), there is no isnaad (chain of narrators), thus being mursal (disconnected), and being da`eef (weak). There are numerous aHaadeeth in our books that talk about when you begin you start with “bismillaah”, but this seems to be the only one that talks about what to say when you end your recitation, there should be a lot more narrations like this.

In conclusion, this practice of ending your recitation with “Sadaqallaahul `aleeyul `adheem” is bid`ah (innovation), and this must be stopped immediately.
