Punishment for Abandoning Ghusl Janaba

Here is a SaHeeH hadeeth about the punishment you will receive for leaving off a single hair in janaabah. This is also a hadeeth in which some scholars have used as evidence for the wujoob (obligation) of doing ghusl of janaabah, as well as many other hadeeth that shows that it is farD.

عقاب من ترك غسل الجنابة
“Punishment for whoever abandons ghusl of janaabah”

From Hujr bin Zaa’idah from Abee `Abd Allaah Al-Saadiq (عليه السلام) said: “Whoever leaves off a single hair from Janaabah, intentionally, then he is in the fire"

  2. I reject this hadeeth as it is too ridiculous to be coming from aimmah (as). Allah is more merciful than this. I think we shouldn't put people off Islam and make them distrust Allah's mercy by using strange awful hadiths like this one.

  3. Brother Wasil,

How can you say this is ghareeb (strange)? We have so many hadeeth that have the same type of wording. Sometimes the Imaams do this type of wording to show how important a certain action is. To reject this hadeeth outrightly because it sounds "harsh", is to reject all aHaadeeth on the `iqaab (punishment) of certain actions.

  6. Back to the hadith :
the hadith indeed ghareeb because it was only narrated by one narrator who is hijr and he had no mutaba3a from anyone as far as i'm aware, i looked for a single mutaba3a and i couldn't find. so this is the only way for this hadith. this makes the hadith clouded by doubt and with its sanad that appears sahih it's less weighty than even a weak hadith that taifah agreed to work upon.
so when i say ghareeb i don't just mean matn.

This gives you a good background on Ghusl Janaabah. Click here: http://www.al-islam.org/laws/ghusl.html

  8. Wasil,

Good to see you acknowledge that you are not Nadir's brother, for you are a muqassir, who thinks he is Allah's gift to tashayyu, muqassir in Aqeedah and Akhlaq, you reject Ghuluww to the Imams which is good, yet do Ghuluww to yourself, calling yourself a School.

Still rejecting the Rajaah? Ya Muqassir, tarakta Madhab AhlulBayt mundhu zaman.
