What does it mean by "mention the name of Allah"? Bismillah? Alhamdulillah? Or any sayings?
ReplyDeleteAssalaamu `Alaykum Rotten,
ReplyDeleteBased off of other aHaadeeth, the safest and most precautionary way is to say "bismillah".
Wa `Alaykum Assalaam

How name upon the food? He said, " Then he (عليه السلام) said, ' if different containers, then name upon each container. ' I said, ' Then if I forgot that name? ' He (عليه السلام) said: ' You say 'Bismillaah 'alaa awwalihi wa aakhirih '."

What if a Sunni says Bismillah over food that was haraam?
ReplyDeleteThank you bro Nader & Abu Abdullah :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't 'aala awwalihi wa aakhirih' imply that we say Bismillah before and after eating? (thus meaning we only say Bismillah, and not the entire sentence)
ReplyDelete@ Brother Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteYou only say that phrase if you forget start your meal by saying "bismillah". In essence, it is a form of mercy upon us from Allaah, that we have a "second chance" per say.
So does it mean if a Muslim says the name of God before he eats haram (like beef not slaughtered in the Islamic way), so is it okay? ..
