Fajr and Isha in Jama'ah

Here are two aī (Authentic) adīth about the punishment one receives if he does not pray al-Fajr and al-`Ishā’  in Jamā`ah (congregation). These adīth are said to be referring to praying these two salāh specifically in congregation, based off of where al-Sadūq, al-Tūsi, Hurr al-`Aamili, al-Sistani and other scholars have put these adīth.

From `Abd Allāh bin Sinān from Abī `Abd Allāh (عليه السلام) said, he heard him say: “The Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prayed al-Fajr, so he approached his companions and asked about people (that weren’t there) and he named them by their names. So he (عليه السلام) said: ‘Have they shown up for al-Salāh?’ So they (the companions) said: ‘No, O Messenger of Allāh’ So he (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: ‘Have they vanished?’ So they said: ‘No’ So he (عليه السلام) said: ‘None from the salāh is harder for the munāfiqīn (hypocrites) than this salāh (al-Fajr) and al-`Ishā’, and if they knew what merits are in them, they would come to it, even if they have to crawl’”

From `Abd Allāh bin Sinān from Abī `Abd Allāh (عليه السلام) said: “The Messenger of Allāh prayed al-Fajr, and when he departed he approached his companions and asked about the people (that weren’t there), have they shown up? So they (the companions) said: ‘No, O Messenger of Allāh’. So he (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: ‘Have they vanished?’ So they said: ‘No’. 1. Asalaamu Alaikum,

It doesn't seem like it says anything about punishments for not praying in jamaat. It does mention that there are merits though.

  2. Wa 'Alaykum Assalaam,

This Hadeeth is in al-Sadooq's book under the section "punishment for actions" in the chapter "punishment for abandoning jama'ah". Also this hadeeth basically calls someone a munafiq if he doesn't pray fajr and isha in congregation.
